German mobile phone provider Bildmobil is launching a new mobile data tariff option for smart-phone users. According to Computerbild, the new tariff option costs € 9.99 for a 30-day period and offers mobile Internet access over the Vodafone network via GPRS, EDGE, UMTS or HSDPA for data transfers with up to 7.2 mbps (download). There is a traffic limit of 250 MB for faster mobile data transfers via EDGE, UMTS or HSDPA per billing cycle. As soon as the smart-phone user has reached this data volume limit, the bandwidth will be reduced to GPRS speed for the remaining days of that specific billing cycle. Without this tariff option Bildmobil customers pay € 0.35 per megabyte when surfing the web via cell phone or smart-phone.

With the Bildmobile prepaid price plan users can make mobile phone calls within Germany for € 0.09 per minute and send text messages (SMS) for € 0.09 each. Checking voice mail in Germany and surfing the mobile web portal of Bildmobil are free of charge. There are further tariff options for mobile phone calls to home phones and other Bildmobile customers in Germany (€ 14.95 for 30 days) and for text messaging (15 SMS for € 0.99). Mobile phone calls from Germany to other countries are rather expensive with the Bildmobil prepaid price plan (€ 1.99 per minute).

The prepaid starter package of Bildmobil including a prepaid SIM card and a starting balance of € 5.00 is available at www.bildmobil.de for € 9.95. New customers can also order the prepaid starter package by calling the Bildmobil hotline at 01805 â€“ 880045. Subscribers can pay by direct debit or via credit card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express). New credit can also be topped up by buying a prepaid voucher over € 10.00 or € 20.00 at kiosks or at gas stations.
