11 March 2009 No Comment

The maps of German and Austrian cities of the web portal Stadtplandienst.de are available for smartphones running on the operating systems Windows Mobile, Blackberry and Symbian Series 60. This applies for example to Symbian smartphone models such as the Nokia E71, the Nokia N95 and the Nokia N96. Now the city maps of Stadtplandienst.de can also be used on touchscreen smartphones like the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

The maps are stored on the memory card of the smartphone so that no mobile internet connection is necessary in order to use the information. Users can scroll and zoom in on the maps with their fingers and can put a transparent layer on the map showing their own position detected by the integrated GPS module of the cell phone. Small map sections can be sent by email or MMS to other cell phones.

The city maps cost between 5.90 and 12.95 euros, versions with arial view feature cost between 8.90 and 18.40 euros. For Berlin-Mitte there is a free demo version. Handy Stadtplandienst has been developed by Envi.con.
