Discount provider Congstar offers a new mobile data plan to netbook and notebook users. This so-called “Internet-DayFlat” plan with flat rate tariff for accessing the internet via GPRS or UMTS over the network of T-Mobile comes with a fee of EUR 2.49 for each day that the subscriber actually uses it to access the internet. It is only available when buying the Congstar UMTS surf stick. The prepaid starter package including the Congstar SIM card, the Congstar “Internet-Stick” and credit of EUR 10.00 is available at www.congstar.de for EUR 39.99 plus EUR 5.95 for delivery.

The Congstar “Internet-DayFlat” offers 500 MB per day of usage for data transmissions with EDGE or UMTS speed of up to 384 mbps. When this data volume limit has been reached during an online session, the maximum data transfer speed will be reduced to GPRS level for the rest of the day. The following day of usage, the Congstar customer will get full UMTS speed again. Actually, in several areas the T-Mobile network supports data transmissions via HSPA with up to 7.2 mbps. It is not allowed to use services such as voice over IP, instant messages or peer to peer with this mobile data plan.

Netbook or notebook users who already have an UMTs surf stick should rather book the prepaid mobile data flat of Ja!mobil or of Penny Mobil which also cost EUR 2.49 for each day the user accesses the internet over the network of T-Mobile. In contrast to the Congstar offer, these day flat tariffs are available without having to buy a new UMTS surf stick. Users looking for a mobile data plan with day flat tariff and faster data transfer speeds via HSPA should check the “Tages-Flatrate” of discount provider Fonic: Fonic charges EUR 2.50 per day up to a maximum amount of EUR 25.00 per month.
