6 July 2009 No Comment

German mobile phone provider Drillisch now sells a prepaid package for mobile internet users. For 69 euros, the package includes a SIM card for the network of German operator Vodafone, a UMTS surf stick, and 28 days of free mobile internet usage via Vodafone WebSessions over the access point name “event.vodafone.de”. The network of Vodafone supports GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS with HSPA and allows data transfer rates of up to 7.2 mbps download and 2 mbps upload. After the first 28 days have run off, users can choose between Websessions price plans at the beginning of each surf session.

For the summer, Vodafone offers special Websessions prices. Access to the internet for 15 minutes costs 49 cents, for two hours Vodafone charges 1.95 euros. Internet access via WebSessions for the entire week costs 9.95 euros. In each WebSessions package users have a data volume of up to 1 GB, not more. Possibly, in September Vodafone will charge WebSessions users the regular price of 4.95 per day. Voice over IP or instant messaging is not allowed in the Vodafone network.
