There are already a few low-cost providers in the German market that offer national mobile phone calls for EUR 0.08 per minute. With Hellomobil a new brand of Drillisch Telecom GmbH has joined the ranks of these discount brands. What makes the prepaid price plan of Hellombil so special is that it is the first one allowing for mobile phone calls to other home phones or mobile phones in Germany at EUR 0.08 per minute over the network of O2 Germany. Checking voice mail within Germany is free of charge, sending an SMS message to other German mobiles costs EUR 0.08 as well.

The prepaid starter package including a SIM card and calling credit of EUR 10.00 is available at www.hellomobil.de for EUR 9.95. For ordering the prepaid starter package of Hellomobil new customers need to indicate a German residence and a German banking account. The prepaid price plan of Hellomobil is not suited for international calls from Germany to other countries since the provider charges EUR 1.99 per minute for such mobile phone calls.

Hellomobil offers several tariff options for mobile phone calls to German landlines (EUR 4.95 per month) or for accessing the internet via GPRS or UMTS. The mobile data tariff option Handysurfpaket 50 MB costs EUR 4.95 per month and comes with a short minimum term of one month. For overtraffic Hellomobil charges EUR 0.19 per megabyte. The flat rate tariff Handysurfpaket 200 MB is available with a minimum term of three months and costs EUR 9.95 per month. Maximum data transfer speeds are reduced to 56 kbps (download) and 16 kbps (upload) for the rest of the month when the customers has used up the 200 MB data traffic. Without mobile data tariff option users of the Hellomobil SIm card pay EUR 0.49 for mobile internet access.
