Low price grocery retailer Lidl will be offering the Android smart-phone Huawei Ideos X3 for just € 99.99 beginning this Thursday. The unlocked Android smart-phone will be available at Lidl supermarkets as part of a prepaid package which also includes a SIM card with Lidl Mobile price plan, 25 free calling minutes and one month mobile Internet access for free. This is a real bargain because the Huawei Ideos X3 runs the current Android version 2.3 Gingerbread and sports most of the usual features of mid-price and mor expensive smart-phones. From September 19th on, the Huawei Ideos X3 will also hit the web store of the no-frills provider Fonic. So there is no need to rush for interested buyers.

Features of the Huawei Ideos X3 include:

• Performance: 600 MHz processor with 256 MB RAM
• Software: Android 2.3 Gingerbread with (3D) user interface developed by Huawei with 5 home-screens
• Screen: 3.2-inch capacitive touch-screen with 480×320 pixels and 262,144 colors
• Memory: 512 MB memory + 32 GB microSD
• Connectivity: HSDPA 7.2 mbps, Wlan n, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, micro-USB, 3.5-mm headset jack
• Multimedia: 3.2-megapixel camera, music player, FM radio with RDS
• Battery: Li-Ion with 1.200 mAh for a talk time of up to 4 hours

 

At Areamobile.de, we have tested the Huawei Ideos X3 over the past few days. Our verdict: The finish of the Android smart-phone is good, except for some small clearances. The device is well-equipped and runs smoothly even though it does not feature a Gigahertz CPU. For the bargain price, users of the Huawei Ideos X3 have to put up with a comparably small screen with a low resolution and a low quality camera – but that’s about it and these limitations are surely within reason for such a small-priced smart-phone.
