German discount provider McSim has launched a new prepaid price plan for mobile phone calls and sending SMS messages within Germany. Users of the “McSim Prepaid” cell phone plan can call home phones and other mobile phones in Germany for 8 cents per minute and also send SMS messages for 8 cents each. There is neither a monthly fee nor a minimum charge. The prepaid starter package including a SIM card for the mobile network of operator Vodafone and 5 euros credit is available online at www.mcsim.de for 9.95 euros and additional 2.95 euros for delivery.

McSim Prepaid is a cheap offer for mobile phone calls and sending SMS messages within Germany. However, all other services are comparably expensive: Checking voice mail is not of free of charge, users pay 8 cents for this, as well. Cell phone calls or sending SMS messages from Germany to other countries cost between 1.59 euros (e.g. to Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey, the United States and Canada) and 2.09 euros per minute or 29 cents per SMS message. For accessing the internet via GPRS or UMTS in the German network of Vodafone McSim Prepaid users are charged 29 euros per megabyte.

McSim is a brand of mobile phone provider Drillisch. New customers have to provide an address registered with the public authorities and a banking account in Germany. Credit can be topped up by direct debit.
