The new Android 2.0 (Eclair) smartphone Motorola Milestone (the GSM version of Motorola Droid) will be available in Germany at O2 Germany and Vodafone stores. O2 Germany will sell the Motorola Milestone for 481 euros without contract, Vodafone has not revealed any prices yet. At German online stores the Motorola Milestone will be available for prices beginning at 450 euros without contract.

The Android smartphone is 13.7 millimeters slim and has a large 3.7 inch touchscreen display with 480 x 854 pixel resolution, a slide-out QWERTZ keyboard, a five megapixel camera,a music player with a 3.5 millimeter audio socket and stereo Bluetooth and GPS. The camera comes with an autofocus, an image stabilizer and a dual LED flash and captures widescreen 720 x 480 pixel video at 30 frames per second. It supports microSD cards up to 32 GB of capacity, the internal memory space of the Milestone amounts to just 300 MB.

The Motorola Milestone can be used in GSM networks in 850, 900, 1,800 and 1,900 MHz and supports GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA for mobile data transfers as well as WiFi. The large 1400 mAh battery gives up to six hours talktime or up to 14 days standby time. For better voice quality, the Motorola Milestone supports Crystal Talk with the so-called dual-microphone technology of Motorola. To communicate with other devices, the smartphone has a Bluetooth 2.0 interface and a USB 2.0 port.

Based on the new Android operating system 2.0 the smartphone includes the usual Google online services such as automatic synchronization of emails (push email) and of contacts and calendar entries. Other services such as Google Maps, Google Street View, Google Search and Google Talk are accessible with one click. The Web browser ChromeLite can display Flash content such as videos from YouTube. Inside the Motorola Milestone is a 550 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor.
