German mobile phone provider O2 Germany is offering a new prepaid 3G surf stick to netbook and notebook users which supports HSPA for mobile data downloads with up to 7.2 mbps and uploads of up to 5.76 mbps. A prepaid starter package including the new UMTS surf stick Huawei E1750 and a SIM card with O2o price plan can be bought at O2 Germany stores or ordered at the O2 Germany web store for € 29.99 plus € 3.95 for delivery. Before, prepaid customers of O2 Germany got 3G surf sticks that support download speeds of just up to 3.6 mbps.

Users of the 3G surf stick with O2o prepaid price plan can choose between two different mobile data tariff options: A flat rate tariff for unlimited Internet access on one day for € 3.50 (“Tages-Flatrate”) or a flat rate tariff for unlimited Internet access over a 30-day period for € 25.00 (“Internet-Pack L”). New credit can be topped up by direct debit, by credit card or by buying a prepaid voucher. O2 Germany is the only operator in Germany allowing voice over IP calls over its mobile broadband network.

Mobile Phone Calls with O2o Price Plan

The SIM card included in the prepaid starter package can also be used for mobile phone calls. The O2o price plan comes with rates of € 0.15 for every calling minute and text message (SMS) sent within Germany and of € 0.09 for every on-line minute when accessing the Internet via GPRS or UMTS over the O2 Germany network. This price plan also offers a monthly cost limit of € 50.00 for standard calls and SMS within Germany. When the O2o subscriber has reached the € 50.00 cost limit, he or she can make mobile phone calls and send SMS without being charged any further for these services. Charges for accessing the internet via GPRS or UMTS do not count for this cost cap, though.

For international mobile phone calls from Germany to home phones in other countries such as Great Britain, France, Italy or the United States O2 Germany charges € 0.29 cents per minute. As written last month, with the O2 Global Friends tariff option, O2 Germany customers with an O2o price plan can make mobile phone calls to five friends who are abroad for rates of € 0.15 per minute.
