Until October 27th, operator O2 Germany is selling a prepaid starter package including a SIM card with O2 o price plan, an UMTS surf stick and credit for five days of free access to the internet via GPRS or UMTS for 33.94 euros, including the cost for delivery. Usually, the mobile internet package of O2 Germany costs 63.94 euros. The UMTS network of O2 Germany supports HSPA with up to 3.6 mbps and sometimes even 7.2 mbps download speed.

After having used the five days of free mobile internet access, owners of the O2 Prepaid Surf Stick can choose between different mobile data tariffs: The standard price for accessing the internet via GPRs or UMTS mobile is 9 cents per minute, mobile internet access for one day with 1 GB data volume for transfers with EDGE, UMTS or HSPA speed included costs 3.50 euros. The fee for an 1-month flat rate tariff with 5 GB data volume for transfers with EDGE, UMTS or HSPA speed included amounts to 25 euros.

The SIM card can be used for using mobile internet services as well as for mobile phone calls and sending SMS and MMS messages. Users of the prepaid price plan O2 o are charged 15 cents for mobile phone calls to other home phones or mobile phones in Germany and 15 cents per SMS message sent within Germany. Expenses per month for such calls and SMS are limited to 60 euros. Customers with O2 o price plan do not have to agree to a long minimum term, there is no monthly fee, and newly topped up credit is valid for six months.
