Three Prepaid Plans for Mobile Internet Access via UMTS in Denmark

TDC Mobilt Bredband-2-GO
It may be worthwhile to buy an UMTS surf stick at home before you travel to Denmark because 3G surf stick sold in Danish stores often come with a SIM lock. That is, they can only be used with the SIM card of a specific mobile phone provider. To compare purchase prices, please check my overview of prepaid starter packages of mobile phone providers in Germany including an UMTS surf stick. On the other hand, booking in advance a Danish prepaid price plan from another country will not work in most cases because customers usually require a credit card and a serial registration number (CPR) for purchases at Danish web stores. All residents of Denmark receive such a CPR. This is used for identification of health insurance and banking accounts. Without CPR, many business deals, particularly on-line purchases, are not possible in Denmark. So you will have to buy the prepaid SIM card for using mobile data services in Denmark once you have crossed the Danish border.
Prepaid Starter Packages for Mobile Internet Access in Denmark
The mobile operator TDC offers a mobile broadband Internet connection called “TDC Bredband-2-GO” with different connection speeds and correspondingly staggered prices. For example, for a week of mobile surfing via GPRS or UMTS/HSDPA with up to 2 mbps (download), notebook or netbook users pay DKK 129.00 (Danish crown; DKK 1.00 equals around € 013). Even if the actual bandwidth of the web connection is lower, that’s still enough for surfing on web pages, checking e-mails or uploading photos to social networking web portals.
