Wir Mobil is a new prepaid price plan for mobile phone users that offers cheap rates for calls to German home phones. While users of the cell phone plan pay 12 cents per minute for calls to other mobile phones, the provider charges only 3 cents per minute for calls to German home phones. Checking voice mail in Germany is free of charge, mobile phone calls to other countries is very expensive (1.84 euros per minute). Sending SMS messages within Germany costs 12 cents each, to mobile phones in other countries 20 cents each.

The fee for accessing the internet in Germany via GPRS or UMTS by using the APN “internet.eplus.de” amounts to 24 cents per megabyte. Surfing mobile web pages such as m.wirmobil.de, mobil.derwesten.de, mobil.newsclick.de, m.derwesten.de, m.tlz.de, m.otz.de or m.thueringer-allgemeine.de by using the APN “wap.eplus.de” does not cause any further expenses.

The prepaid price plan Wir Mobil has been launched in the network of operator E-Plus by the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitungsverlagsgesellschaft (WAZ), a publishing company with severeal newspapers in Germany. The prepaid starter package (SIM card and 5 euros credit for free calls) is available at www.wirmobil.de for 7.50 euros.
