First Samsung Bada OS Smartphones in Germany in 2010
Cell phone manufacturer Samsung will launch its own open mobile platform and make a software development kit (SDK) available in December. The new platform will be called Bada OS which means “ocean” in Korean and is supposed to convey the limitless variety of potential applications which can be created using the new platform and to allude to a commitment to a variety of open platforms in the mobile industry. The official website www.bada.com opened today and features a range of information on Bada OS including updates on product launches, features, and event notices.
According to Samsung this new addition to Samsung’s mobile ecosystem enables developers to create applications for millions of new Samsung mobile phones. Samsung Bada OS also offers an easy-to-integrate platform for mobile operators so that mobile operators can provide unique and differentiated services to their customers, Samsung hopes. By adopting Samsung Bada OS, users should be able to easily enjoy various applications on their mobile.
Supposedly, Bada OS will gradually replace Symbian and Windows Mobile on Samsung smartphones and stand alongside Android in the company’s portfolio. First Bada OS smartphones for the German market can be expected not earlier than next year.
