T-Home Raises Fee for Basic Phone Tariff

1 January 2009 No Comment

From January 5th on Germany’s incumbent telco Deutsche Telekom will charge new customers more than before for its basic telephone tariffs. The tariff Call Plus with an analogue telephone connection will cost 18.95 euros per month (so far 16.37 euros), the tariff Call Start 17.95 euros per month (so far 16.95 euros).

For an ISDN connection customers have to pay 8 euros more per month. For the installation of the connection Deutsche Telekom charges an one-time fee of 59.95 euros.

The main difference between Call Plus and Call Start is: The minimum term of Call Start is 12 months, the minimum term of Call Plus just 30 days. However, the charge per minute for phone calls with Germany is often cheaper with Call Start.

With 30 million activated telephone connections Deutsche Telekom is the biggest German telephone provider. Usually, other inter-regional carriers such as Arcor, Hansenet (Alice) and Versatel as well as city carriers such as Netcologne and M-net offer better bargains than Deutsche Telekom. However, customers of these companies may have to agree to a minimum term of 24 months and cannot save money by using call by call services.
