There is a whole bunch of discount providers offering prepaid SIM cards in the German mobile phone market. While most of them sell their prepaid starter packages at their own web stores, which makes it necessary that the customer indicates a residence and a banking account in Germany, some prepaid SIM cards and prepaid vouchers are available at supermarkets, kiosks and gas stations. The Android smartphone Samsung Galaxy Nexus is now also available at Vodafone stores in Germany. As reported earlier, the Galaxy Nexus offered by Vodafone will cost € 599.90 without plan. Customers also closing a contract over 24 months will pay between € 299.90 and € 379.90 – depending on the price plan they choose. For example, the Galaxy Nexus comes for € 299.90 when the buyer decides on a Superflat Internet Plus plan.

N-TV Go! is the first provider in Germany offering a price as low as € 0.06 per minute for mobile phone calls to home phones and other mobiles in Germany. It will take another two weeks until the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available at Vodafone stores in Germany. The operator will start offering the Android 4.0 smartphone not sooner than mid-December, Vodafone itself told Areamobile today. Fortunately, Vodafone Germany also revealed the purchase prices for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Telefónica Germany (O2) will launch new mobile data tariffs for tablet and laptop users. From now on, postpaid and prepaid customers will pay the same monthly fees and will get the same data transfer speeds. In addition to that, O2 slashes all long contract periods for postpaid customers. In the future, new customers can choose between a one-month oder 24-months minimum term commitment when booking one of the new O2 mobile data tariffs.

No-frills provider Fonic will launch a new prepaid price plan called “Fonic Smart” for smart-phone users on October 4th. The new price plan costs € 29.95 per month and includes 500 units for mobile phone calls and/or SMS within Germany as well as a mobile data flat rate tariff for surfing the web over the mobile network of Telefónica Germany (O2).

The bundle includes the current Apple smart-phone model in black with 16 GB memory, a SIM card for the pay as you go price plan “Xtra Nonstop Special” and credit of € 30.00 for calls and SMS. It is available at Telekom shops for € 629.95.

Some DSL and home phone packages of German providers such as 1&1, Alice and Congstar come with a minimum term of four or six weeks. The DSL packages include at least an analog landline and a DSL connection with a flat rate tariff for web access. Sometimes a flat rate tariff for landline calls to other home phones in Germany is already included as well. Since some providers rely in certain regions on a wholesale product of Telekom in order to provide landline and broadband Internet connections, they may add an additional € 5.00 per month to the standard monthly fee – depending on the subscriber’s address.
