Video: Timescape & Mediascape on Sony Ericsson X10
It’s not the 8.1-megapixel camera, the 1-GHz Snapdragon processor or its HSPA and WiFi connectivity that make the Android smartphone Sony Ericsson X10 unique – it’s rather the new interface “User Experience (UX)” with its Timescape and Mediascape sections. Timescape is the information hub on the Sony Ericsson X10 pooling status updates from social networking portals such as Facebook and VZ-Netzwerke, tweets from Twitter, emails, text massages (SMS) and photos. New messages or photos are shown in 3D-views called “Splines” (from “spine”) in a chronological order. When opening a single message tab, the user of the Sony Ericsson X10 can access further contact details and previous communication activities by pushing the “infinite” button.
The Mediascape mode offers an overview of songs, photos and videos stored on the smartphone’s microSD card. When pushing the “infinite” button in Mediascape, photos shot on the same day or other photos, videos and music files from web portals such as Picasa, YouTube, Facebook and PlayNow Arena are displayed. Since this only works with an internet connection over a mobile network or via WiFi, the Sony Ericsson X10 user should book a mobile data plan.
Watch this video to see how Timescape and Mediascape work on the Sony Ericsson X10. A detailed review of the Android 1.6 smartphone will follow soon.
