3 Top Tariffs for Phone and Internet

29 December 2009 No Comment

My top price plans of 2009 in Germany for home phone, broadband internet, mobile phone and mobile internet users are: O2 o of mobile network operator O2 Germany, Aldi Talk 24 Stunden Internet Flatrate of discount provider Medion Mobile and the double flat rate tariff Alice Fun of Hansenet. All three offers are still available and will stay my first choices in 2010 when it comes to booking a new home phone, mobile phone or internet package until another provider will launch a better price plan. This is why I recommend these three tariffs:

The O2 o price plan of O2 Germany does not offer the cheapest rates for mobile phone users in the market, but because of a short minimum term of just one month and several tariff options it offers a great amount of flexibility to the subscriber. In addition, this price plan can be ordered as a postpaid or as a prepaid tariff. And best of all: Monthly expenses of the user for mobile phone calls and SMS are limited to EUR 60.00. For people who order this price plan online at www.o2online.de the maximum monthly fee amounts to EUR 51.00 because of a 15 percent discount.

With O2 o subscribers make mobile phone calls to home phones and other mobile phones and check voice mail in Germany for EUR 0.15 per minute while sending an SMS message does also cost EUR 0.15. Acessing the internet via GPRS or UMTS is charged with EUR 0.09 per minute, with EUR 5.00 for 30 MB, with EUR 10.00 for 200 MB or with EUR 25.00 for unlimited data traffic per month. These mobile data tariff options come with a minimum term of one month (prepaid) or three months (postpaid).

Aldi Talk 24 Stunden Internet Flatrate for Notebook Users

Notebook or netbook users ordering the Aldi Talk 24 Stunden Internet Flatrate of discount provider Medion Mobile car more about rock bottom rates rather than fast downloads and uploads. The mobile internet access of Aldi Talk is realized over the mobile network of E-Plus. This operator has just begun to slowly expand its UMTS network and to upgrade it to HSPA. As I reported earlier, E-Plus has announced to offer mobile data services with data transmissions of up to 21.6 mbps. Right now data download speeds are usually limited to 384 kbps.

However, subscribers of the Aldi Talk 24 Stunden Internet Flatrate price plan benefit from the cheapest mobile internet tariff in the German market. No other provider offers an internet access via GPRS or UMTS over 24 hours for just EUR 1.99. During these 24 hours data traffic is not limited, but the maximum download speed is reduced to up to 56 kbps for the rest of the online session when the subscriber has used up more than 1 GB of data volume. At Aldi supermarkets an UMTS surf stick is available for EUR 59.99. The prepaid starter package including the SIM card and calling credit of EUR 10.00 is available for EUR 12.99.

Alice Fun of Hansenet for Home Phone and DSL Users

Alice Fun

The Hansenet tariff Alice Fun costs EUR 29.90 per month and includes a landline and a DSL connection with data transmission rates of up to 16 mbps (download) and 800 kbps (upload) as well as flat rate tariffs for phone calls to German home phones and for accessing the internet. Thus, it offers good value for money; it is even cheaper than several other home phone packages of German providers without an internet flat rate tariff.

The new Hansenet customer can choose between a minimum term of just one month or of 24 months. With a minimum term of just one month he or she receives no discount and, for example, has to pay a set-up fee of EUR 39.90. The short term subscriber also gets only standard DSL hardware (and no WiFi router) for free.
