German operator Vodafone has launched a new WAP portal for mobile phone customers with a CallYa prepaid price plan. The new WAP portal can be visited without any prior registration by cell phone via GPRS or UMTS connection at
http://wap.meincallya.de. Accessing the WAP portal via mobile data connection (APN: “wap.vodafone.de”) is free of charge for Vodafone Germany customers when being in Germany or in another country. The WAP portal of Vodafone is not open to mobile phone users with a prepaid price plan of a mobile another provider in the network of Vodafone.

At “Mein CallYa” mobile phone users with a prepaid price plan of Vodafone can check their current amount of calling credit, top up new credit, book new tariff options, switch to another prepaid price plan or use the CallNow credit transfer or advance payment service. The new service has been not fully launched, some CallYa users (with CallYa Comfort, CallYa Comfort 2.0 or CallYa 1/15 cell phone plan) will not be able to use the services on the WAP portal before April. For Vodafone customers with CallYa OpenEnd or Callya 5/15 plan the “Mein CallYa” portal is already available with all services.

Part of the new mobile portal is a direct access to the calling credit balance with the Vodafone 236 cell phone. After each phone call or each SMS message sent the Vodafone 236 user will be able to see the new calling credit balance on the cell phone screen and to top up new credit immediately by using the CallNow service or direct debit. This cost control feature will soon be available for other prepaid cell phones as well.
