Discount provider Bildmobil sells a new starter package called “Voice&SMS Partner Flat” for its prepaid price plan. It includes one SIM card for the Vodafone network, offers community calls between Bildmobil customers for free over a six month period and is available for EUR 1.55. Buying the new prepaid starter package of the German discount provider is not so easy, though: First, you have to buy the IT magazine Computerbild for EUR 1.00 at a kiosk, then to cut out the Bildmobil coupon on page 23 and finally to mail it to the mobile phone provider. Allow an additional EUR 0.55 on the price for the magazine for postage – that’s how the total costs amount to EUR 1.55.

Users of the Bildmobil “Voice&SMS Partner Flat” can make mobile phone calls and send SMS messages to other Bildmobil SIM card users for free over six months. After that period of time Bildmobil charges EUR 3.99 for the community flat rate tariff over 30 days. Other mobile phone calls within Germany cost EUR 0.09 per
minute. For sending SMS messages Bildmobil currently charges EUR 0.14 cents each, from January 1st on this price will drop to EUR 0.09 each. Mobile phone calls from Germany to other countries are very expensive, rates start at EUR 1.99 per minute.

The fee for accessing the internet via GPRS or UMTS amounts to EUR 0.35 per megabyte. Visiting the Bildmobil web portal is free of charge.

The new community flat rate tariff is available only for new subscribers. The regular prepaid starter package of Bildmobil includes one SIM card and EUR 5.00 calling credit and is available for EUR 9.95 at www.bildmobil.de. The discount provider also offers a flat rate tariff for mobile phone calls to German home phones and other Bildmobil users as well as SMS to other Bildmobil users for EUR 14.95 over 30 days.
