VZmobil: Prepaid Plan with Free Mobile Social Networking

German social networking service VZ-Netzwerke (meinVZ, schuelerVZ and StudiVZ)is launching a cell phone plan that can be booked by community members and other mobile phone users. The basic version of VZmobil is similar to many other prepaid price plans in Germany with low rates of € 0.09 per minute for calls to landlines and other mobile phones in Germany, € 0.09 for every text message (SMS) sent within Germany, and € 0.24 per megabyte for accessing the internet via GPRS or UMTS over the network of operator O2 Germany. On the other hand, VZmobil comes with lots of tariff options and included services.

Included services of VZmobil are:

  • Free calls for a duration of up to 15 seconds to one selected home phone number in Germany
  • Visiting the VZ-Netzwerke mobile web portal via GPRS or UMTS with pre-installed web browser
  • Using social networking apps such as instant messaging of VZ-Netzwerke

Tariff options of VZmobil are:

  • Unlimited calls to other VZmobil users in Germany: € 4.00 per month
  • Unlimited text messages to other VZmobil users in Germany: € 4.00 per month
  • Mobile internet access over O2 Germany network with 200 MB for faster data transfers via EDGE, UMTS or HSPA: € 10.00 per month

The prepaid starter package (SIM card and credit of € 1.00) will be available from Monday, June 28th, on at www.vzmobil.net or at Tengelmann (Kaisers) supermarkets for € 5.00. People buying the VZmobil starter package before the end of August can make calls and send text messages to other VZmobil subscribers for free for the first three months. Target group of VZmobil are pupils and children and teens of twelve years or older. New credit can be topped up by direct debit or by buying a prepaid voucher.
