German network operator O2 Germany and web weather service Wetter.com are offering a mobile Internet package for netbook and notebook users. The package includes an UMTS surf stick, a SIM card for accessing the web via GPRS or UMTS over the network of O2 Germany and a prepaid price plan. new customers can choose between three different mobile data flat rate tariffs: for € 2.95 for one day with 1 GB data volume for faster data transfers via EDGE, UMTS or HSPA, for € 9.95 for one month with 500 MB data volume for faster data transfers, and for € 24.95 for one month with 5 GB data volume for faster transmissions. It is possible to switch mobile data tariffs later on.

The UMTS surf stick Huawei E1550 of Wetter.com supports GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA with data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 mbps (download), while the O2 Germany network allows data transmissions with up to 5.76 mbps in areas with 3G coverage – in some ares even for up to 7.2 mbps (download).

The prepaid starter package including the UMTS surf stick, the prepaid SIM card and credit of € 8.85 can be ordered at http://www.wettercom.bilogshop.de/ or by calling the hotline 0800 5 211 233 for a purchase price of € 29.95 plus € 4.95 for delivery until October 4th. People ordering the prepaid starter package of Wetter.com later will have to pay a purchase price of € 49.95. New credit can be topped up by buying an O2 Germany voucher or by direct debit.
